The Tabernacle Choir is currently on a tour of 7 cities in the Midwest: Cincinnati, Des Moines, St. Louis, Kansas City, Omaha, Norman and ending up in Denver at the Red Rocks. But we got to see it FREE the night before they left. It was all thanks to Dean and a young engineer with whom he works. He plays cello in the the Orchestra at Temple Square and asked Dean if we'd like to attend the "family and friends farewell concert." Would we!

We heard the full two hour concert, complete with encores. Sometimes they are serious, sometimes they are clapping and shouting. Very fun! The sound has to be heard to be believed. The choir, about 350 strong, is made up of all volunteers. They go through a rigorous audition. Whoever makes it in has a large time commitment that they have to work in with jobs and family. Ages are between 25 and 60, and a singer can stay in the choir only 20 years. They perform Music and the Spoken Word on national television every Sunday, do several special concerts a year, including big extravaganzas on Christmas and Pioneer Day. And sometimes they go on tour.
