You would be surprised at all the energetic old people around here! There are 456 senior missionaries in our mission working in either Family History or in various offices at Church Headquarters. They are computer literate and adventurous. Many are serving their 3rd or 4th mission.
Some senior missionaries have physical limitations, however, and you would think a mission would not be a possibility for them. Think again.
Those who get around in their Jazzy chairs go faster than the rest of us do. Watch out! When we first arrived last spring we had to wonder about the man who was obviously recovering from a stroke. Now you should see him! He’s almost back to his old self.
Canes? Sure. Rolling walkers? Lots of them! Some who have suddenly needed knee or hip replacement take a few weeks off then get right back to work!
Are these senior missionaries handicapped? I don’t think so!! It’s all a matter of attitude.
